The Cognizer's way of thinking, which is not necessarily generally accepted, and which is generally dependent on the Cognizer's point of view. My take is that it is a version of the Macbeth story - what happens when people become violent but cannot quite handle it. Svetlana knew that it was Sergei's view that the Berlin crises were merely a charade which it was necessary for both sides to enact and re-enact every few years. Her child-like portrayal only manages to live up to the other characters' view of her as the deranged little sister.
