A Temporary_group is formed from members of a Parent_organization for a particular Purpose. The Temporary_group does not exist independently within the Parent_organization. It is under the control of a Container_possessor, which also controls the Parent_organization. They came upon another of Whipple's scouting parties, Under Lieutenant S.M. Rains, and wiped out the entire twelve-man detachment. A guard detachment from the Royal regiment was traveling with the main force to secure high-value prisoners.
